Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This page explains what information LocalSiteCheck collects when you use the website health check tool, how it's used, and your rights under UK data protection law.
Who we are
LocalSiteCheck is operated by the individual registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under reference ZC097790, searchable via the ICO's public register at ico.org.uk. We are the "data controller" for the information described below.
You can contact us about privacy matters at newappdevelop_group@outlook.com.
What we collect
- The website address you check. This is sent to our system so it can look at the page and generate your results.
- If you ask for help fixing the issues found: your email address, and your hosting provider if you choose to share it.
We don't ask for your name, and we don't use accounts, cookies, or tracking — you can use the checker without giving us anything beyond the website address.
Our legal basis for processing your data
We process this information under the following lawful bases set out in UK GDPR:
- Consent — by submitting a website address or the "Help me fix this" form, you're asking us to carry out the check or get in touch with you, on the terms described on this page.
- Legitimate interests — where it's necessary for us to operate and improve this free tool, in a way that doesn't override your rights and interests.
How we use it
The information you provide is used only to:
- Generate your website health check results.
- Get in touch with you about the improvements you've asked for help with.
We don't sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
How results are generated
To produce your results, the page you submit is processed by automated checks and by an AI model, which reviews the page's content to suggest improvements. The page content (not your personal details) is sent to our AI provider for this purpose, in line with their standard data handling practices.
Personal data on the website being checked
Business websites often include personal details — such as the owner's phone number, address, or photo, or names mentioned in staff bios and customer testimonials. When you check a website, this publicly published content may be included in the text sent for analysis, in the same way a search engine would read it.
We process this incidental personal data under legitimate interests: it's already publicly available, it's only used transiently to generate suggestions about the page (not to identify or profile anyone), it isn't stored by us, and — as set out above — the AI provider doesn't retain it for more than a short period or use it for training.
If you're checking your own website and would rather certain personal details weren't included in this process, you can remove or anonymise them on the page itself before running a check.
International data transfers
Some of the tools we use to run this service — including our hosting provider and the AI model used to generate findings — may process data on servers located outside the UK. Where this happens, these providers have their own safeguards in place for handling data transferred internationally, in line with UK data protection requirements.
Where data is stored, and for how long
If you ask for help fixing the issues found, the details you submit are stored securely via our website hosting provider (Netlify) so we can follow up with you. We keep this information only for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry and carry out any agreed work, after which it's deleted.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask what information we hold about you, and get a copy of it (right of access).
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information (right to rectification).
- Ask us to delete your information (right to erasure).
- Ask us to restrict or stop processing your information (right to restriction and objection).
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is our basis for processing.
- Receive your information in a portable format, where applicable (right to data portability).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We'll respond within one month, as required by UK GDPR.
Data protection complaints
If you have any concerns about how your information has been handled, you can make a data protection complaint to us directly at newappdevelop_group@outlook.com (please use the subject line "Data protection complaint" so it's handled promptly). Tell us what happened and what you'd like us to do, and we'll look into it and respond as quickly as we can.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent regulator for data protection:
- Website: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
