Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2026

LocalSiteCheck offers two things: a free website health check tool, and — for a limited number of local businesses — a no-cost website rebuild and hosting service. These terms cover both. Please read them in plain English below. By using this service, you agree to what's written here.

1. The website health check

By entering a website address and clicking "Check my website", you confirm that you own that website, or have the owner's permission to have it checked. The tool visits and analyses the publicly visible pages of that site to generate your results. You agree to us doing this as described in our Privacy Policy.

Please only check websites you are responsible for. This tool is intended for business owners reviewing their own site — not for checking other people's websites without their knowledge.

2. How the results are generated

Your results come from two sources: automated technical checks (such as security, mobile-friendliness, and broken links), and findings written by an AI model that reviews how clearly your page communicates with visitors. The AI findings are produced automatically and, while generally accurate, may occasionally be wrong or incomplete. Please treat all results as a helpful starting point, not a guaranteed audit.

3. The website rebuild service — who it's for

We review each rebuild request individually. Not every website will be suitable. If your site includes payment processing, member login areas, booking systems, customer databases, or other complex functionality, the work involved in rebuilding it may outweigh the benefits identified in the health check. In these cases we will let you know we are unable to proceed, and explain why. Your health check results remain yours regardless.

We only work with publicly visible pages. We do not access, handle, or replicate any backend systems, databases, payment infrastructure, or areas that require a login.

4. What the rebuild service includes

If we agree to proceed, here is what is included:

Once these steps are complete and you have confirmed you are satisfied, the service is finished.

5. What isn't included

The following fall outside the scope of this service:

If you would like further help after the service has ended, we are happy to discuss this — but it would be outside the scope of this agreement.

6. Applying the health check findings

We will do our best to address as many findings as possible in the rebuild. However, some may not be fully implementable — for example, if a recommendation requires content only you can provide, involves a third-party service outside our control, or is not feasible within a simple website rebuild. We will always tell you what has been done and explain anything that could not be addressed. We do not guarantee that all findings will be resolved, or that doing so will result in any specific outcome such as more enquiries or better search rankings.

7. Your confirmation and agreement

We will only move your new website live once you confirm by email that you are happy to proceed. That email is your agreement. By sending it, you confirm that you own the website or have authority to authorise changes to it, and that you accept these terms. Email is our agreed method of communication throughout, and confirmations given by email are considered binding.

8. Hosting — what free tier means

Your new website is hosted on Netlify's free tier, which means there is no ongoing hosting cost to you. Netlify's free tier provides sufficient bandwidth and resources for most small business websites. We will create the account on your behalf — the account belongs to you, and we recommend changing your password after your first login.

Netlify is a third-party service. Their own terms and conditions apply, and we have no control over their platform or any changes they may make to their free tier in future. We also use other third-party services (such as Google Fonts) in building your site — these are subject to their own terms and we are not responsible for any changes to their availability.

9. Your domain name

Your domain name — for example, yourbusiness.co.uk — remains yours at all times. We do not take ownership of or control over it. The annual renewal fee for your domain (typically £10–£15 per year) remains your responsibility. We eliminate hosting costs, not domain costs.

10. Reverting to your old website

If you change your mind after your domain has been pointed to the new website, we can help you switch back as long as your original hosting subscription is still active. Once that subscription has been cancelled or expired, reverting may not be possible. We strongly recommend keeping your original hosting active until you are fully satisfied with the new site.

11. Ownership of the new website

Once your new website has been delivered, it belongs to you. We may reuse general code techniques and approaches in future work, but we will never reuse your content, branding, images, or business information.

12. Our liability

We provide this service in good faith and at no cost. We cannot be held responsible for any interruption to your website during or after the transfer, or for any loss of business, enquiries, or revenue arising from the transfer or from any issue with the new website or its hosting. Our total liability to you in connection with this service is limited to the amount you have paid us — which, during this beta period, is nothing.

13. No guarantees

This tool and all associated services are provided as is, during a beta period. We make every reasonable effort to keep things accurate and working, but we cannot guarantee the service will be fault-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for every website or business. We may withdraw, pause, or change the service at any time during the beta period.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Estimated cost savings

Where our health check identifies the platform your website is built on, we may show an estimated annual saving based on that platform's entry-level pricing. These figures are stored by us and reviewed periodically, but they may not reflect the exact price you are currently paying — platform pricing changes over time, and your actual plan or billing cycle may differ. Any saving shown is an estimate only and should not be relied upon as a precise figure. We recommend checking your current provider's pricing directly to confirm your actual costs.

16. Credit and attribution

We may include a small "Refreshed by LocalSiteCheck" credit with a link to our website in the footer of any website we rebuild. This helps others find our service and also gives us a small SEO benefit at no cost to you. If you would prefer this credit is not included, just let us know before your new site goes live and we will remove it — no questions asked.

17. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time as the service develops. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
